IDNAL is a nursing group that was set up to provide peer support to nurses working in Dermatology. The aims of the IDNAL is to advocate best practice in Dermatology and share expertise and experience with nurses in the community, primary care and other nurses in secondary care. Through promoting education and best practice in dermatology we should achieve improved patient outcomes.
In October 2001 a group of senior dermatology nurses from the Irish Republic and Northern Ireland met at the City of Dublin Skin and Cancer Hospital, Hume St to discuss the feasibility of establishing a dermatology nursing organisation. The Irish Association of Dermatologists had offered to share meeting venues should a group be formed. In April 2002 the IDNA held its first meeting at the Faithlegg Hotel in Waterford. In 2008 the IDNA was established as a limited company.
