My name is Eilish Ryan. I am the current treasurer of the Irish Dermatology Nurse’s Association.
I graduated UCC in 2010. On qualifying I worked in St Vincent’s Dublin on their Graduate Nurse programme. As part of rotations during this programme I was placed in Dermatology. I worked there for the move into their most recent unit staying until 2016. I then came to UHL for the opening of their new unit where I was CNM2 for 5 years. In this time I also completed my MSc Dermatology from University of Hertfordshire in 2020, followed by Nurse Prescribing Post Grad Cert (Hons) in 2021 from University of Limerick.
I changed role to CNS General /Inflammatory Dermatology in 2024. In this capacity I have expanded my knowledge and interest in medical dermatology, mainly inflammatory conditions of Psoriasis and Eczema as well as Emergency dermatology care of SJS/TENS patients and Wound care. I have been a member of IDNA since 2011 and have been lucky enough to present at 2 national conferences. I hope my role in committee helps me to enable other nurses to grow their knowledge in the field of dermatology.
